In 2018, which is the 40th anniversary of LesMustdeCartierSantos, Cartier has made significant improvements to the Santos series on the basis of retaining the logo elements. The improved Santos watch still uses the classic matte silver dial with black Time scale design. Now, at the forthcoming opening of the SIHH2019 in Geneva in 2019, Cartier launches the new SantosGradient blue dial watch (model: WSSA0013).
The blue dial has a striking gradient with a light center and deep edges. The Roman numerals are mirror-finished, which contrasts with the metallic blue dial, which is extraordinary. It is worth noting that, unlike the silver dial with blue steel hands, the new timepieces are coated with Super-Luminova fluorescent materials, giving the watch a slight sporty look. The gradient blue dial is limited to large models with a size of 39.8mm × 47.5mm × 9.08mm. The date display window at the 6 o’clock position of the dial, white text on a black background, is easy to identify.
Other parts are the same as the silver dial. The watch is water-resistant to 10 bar (approximately 100 meters), and is equipped with two practical inventions of Cartier-‘SmartLink’ bracelet adjustment device and ‘QuickSwitch’ strap quick-change device. Built-in 1847MC self-winding movement, this is Cartier’s entry-level self-made movement with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations / hour (4 Hz) and a 48-hour power reserve. The watch uses nickel-phosphorus escapement parts and a soft iron inner case to protect the movement from magnetic fields.
